PCU Certified Patient Care Technician

About the role

AdventHealth in Ocala, Florida is hiring a full-time Certified Patient Care Technician (PCU) on a night shift. The role provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity and culture, works under the direction of a registered nurse, and takes part in quality improvement and safety practices.

Key responsibilities

• Perform treatments according to policy and procedure, and function appropriately in clinical emergencies
• Follow isolation guidelines, use protective equipment correctly, perform handwashing and enforce safety regulations
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the healthcare team
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
• Assist in delivering patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse
• Document and report procedures, help obtain a nursing history and report abnormalities to the registered nurse
• Identify patient needs and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent (required)
• 1+ years of applicable PCT experience preferred
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician or equivalent medical experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (required)
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), AMCA PCT-C or EMT certification (required)

Pay range: $16.02 - $25.63. Positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting. The facility is an equal opportunity employer.
