Payroll Tax Analyst

About the role

The Payroll Tax Analyst supports Southern Glazer’s finance team by ensuring accurate and timely payroll tax reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This full‑time position works closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies to resolve tax‑related issues and maintain the integrity of payroll data.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to internal and external inquiries via phone and email, providing timely resolutions.
• Report and remit state, local, and city payroll taxes on schedule for all employees.
• Verify W‑2 accuracy, adjust gross‑to‑net calculations as needed, and process payroll postings to accounting systems.
• Run payroll reconciliation reports, verify the accuracy of Federal 941 and 940 returns, and remit Federal tax payments daily.
• Prepare and file the annual Federal Unemployment (940) return and weekly/quarterly/annual 941 returns.
• Document and update departmental procedures, generate ad‑hoc state and federal reports, and assist with payroll variance analysis.
• Support payroll audits, balance General Ledger accounts, and collaborate with agents and auditors during workers’ compensation audits.
• Enter and reconcile third‑party distribution entries for employees and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related experience.
• Minimum of three years of experience in payroll tax, accounting, or a related field.
