Payroll Supervisor

About the role

Ensemble Performing Arts is seeking a highly organized, detail‑oriented Payroll Supervisor to lead payroll operations across its growing portfolio of performing‑arts businesses. This remote, full‑time position oversees a team, ensures accurate processing of multiple pay schedules, and maintains compliance with payroll regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and develop payroll coordinators, set priorities, review work for accuracy, and conduct performance reviews.
• Oversee end‑to‑end processing of weekly, bi‑weekly, and semi‑monthly payrolls, including timekeeping, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and adjustments.
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger, prepare payroll reports, and maintain controls over confidential data.
• Ensure compliance with FLSA and federal, state, and local wage‑and‑hour, tax, and reporting requirements, including tax deposits and filings.
• Administer the payroll system, document procedures, and identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of core payroll experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll and wage‑and‑hour compliance.
• Proven ability to coach, develop, and lead a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations.
• Experience with Paylocity payroll system (preferred).

What we offer

• Salary range $65,000–$70,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
