Payroll Specialist

About the role

The Savannah Technical College seeks a Payroll Specialist to manage and coordinate all payroll operations. This role ensures accurate, timely processing of payroll, benefits, and related accounting functions for the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and review payroll data for accuracy in the accounting system.
• Reconcile payroll records, identify errors, and make corrections.
• Process third‑party wage requests, including garnishments and tax levies.
• Serve as primary contact with ADP for tax remittance and reporting.
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Assign payroll expense coding in consultation with finance leadership.
• Audit payroll transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare reports and summaries related to payroll and employee benefits.
• Review weekly timesheets for accuracy and proper approval.
• Advise employees on benefit programs, tax withholding, and payroll deductions.

Required profile

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with finance teams.
• Knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and regulations.
