Payroll Manager – US Payroll Operations

About the role

Gravity Global is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead end‑to‑end payroll operations for its U.S. workforce. Based in Houston, you will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple states while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and external providers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full‑cycle payroll process for U.S. employees, including data collection, processing, validation, and reporting.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax filings, wage‑and‑hour requirements, and reporting obligations.
• Oversee multi‑state payroll compliance, monitor regulatory changes, and implement updates proactively.
• Serve as the primary administrator and subject‑matter expert for ADP Workforce Now, handling configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee data, benefit deductions, 401(k) contributions, and general‑ledger alignment.
• Conduct payroll audits, reconciliations, and year‑end processes such as W‑2 and state filings.
• Develop, document, and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Support payroll‑related projects, system enhancements, and continuous process improvements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience managing the complete payroll process.
• Proven track record of payroll compliance across multiple U.S. states, including California.
• Hands‑on experience with ADP Workforce Now.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
