Payroll Manager (Hybrid) – Southfield, MI

About the role

The Payroll Manager will lead end‑to‑end payroll operations for multiple legal entities across the United States and abroad. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure compliance, accuracy, and audit readiness while supporting a hybrid work environment in Southfield, MI.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multi‑entity, multi‑state, and cross‑border payroll processing and tax compliance.
• Maintain audit‑ready payroll documentation and support internal, external, and regulatory audits.
• Establish and monitor internal controls, including SOX‑relevant processes where applicable.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Workday, ADP) and lead the implementation of a new payroll platform and BPO integration.
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable external BPO payroll staff while partnering with HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, and IT stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing payroll for multi‑entity organizations, preferably in a global or North‑American context.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll, wage‑and‑hour, and tax regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to design and enforce internal controls and risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Excellent communication skills to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
