Patient Service Specialist – Front‑line Patient Experience

About the role

The Patient Service Specialist joins the Cleveland Clinic Health System at Lorain Family Health Surgery Center to deliver an exceptional, patient‑first experience from arrival through discharge. You will support patients, families, and visitors through registration, insurance verification, co‑pay collection, and scheduling while promoting the use of front‑end technology.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, proactive service to patients and visitors, handling phone triage, registration, insurance eligibility, and co‑payment collection.
• Verify referrals, insurance coverage, and physician data; generate accurate patient estimates and identify those needing financial counseling.
• Perform scheduling, interpreter coordination, and assist patients with MyChart enrollment and appointment pass usage.
• Maintain confidential patient records, track visits, and support staff messaging and provider schedule generation.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree with corresponding experience.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and resolve conflicts.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 lb.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PC and office equipment, typing at least 30 wpm.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical office processes.
