Patient Representative – Outpatient Clinic (Full‑Time Days)

About the role

The Patient Representative ensures smooth patient flow within the outpatient gastroenterology clinic, handling registration, scheduling, billing, and basic administrative support. This full‑time, day‑shift position is essential for delivering a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Register new and returning patients, verify and update medical records.
• Schedule initial, follow‑up, and procedure appointments accurately.
• Collect payments, document receipts, and prepare daily cash reports.
• Enter ICD‑10 and CPT‑4 codes for services rendered and submit billing invoices.
• Transcribe non‑medical dictation and file, fax, or mail reports as needed.
• Order outside tests, confirm appointments, and compile month‑end reports.
• Maintain supply inventory and notify supervisors when reordering is required.
• Serve as the front‑desk receptionist, greeting patients and handling phone inquiries.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of clerical experience; medical office experience preferred.
• Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and interact courteously with patients.

Required skills

• PC skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in ICD‑10 coding.
• Proficiency in CPT‑4 coding.
• Typing speed of 45‑55 words per minute with accuracy.
