Patient Registration Representative (Onsite)

About the role

R1 RCM is recruiting an onsite Patient Access Representative for the Emergency department at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach, Florida. The role is the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. It is a frontline healthcare customer service position that also supports hospital operations and revenue cycle success. The shift is Wednesday 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6:00 am - 6:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process, working across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Minimise delays in registration and answer questions with confidence, clarity and compassion
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• No healthcare background needed: training is provided
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus but not required
