About the role

The Patient Financial Counselor works with minimal supervision to verify insurance, assess patient financial needs, and provide counseling on benefits, copayments, and payment arrangements. The role also involves obtaining pre‑authorizations and maintaining accurate patient demographics.

Key responsibilities

Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre‑authorizations for services.
Enter accurate insurance, demographic, and eligibility data into the system.
Provide financial counseling to patients, explaining obligations, billing practices, and payment plans.
Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and other out‑of‑pocket amounts at the time of visit.
Assist patients in obtaining financial assistance programs and community resources.
Document counseling processes and forward records to the Billing Office.

Required profile

Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetic and numeric systems.
General knowledge of medical terminology and patient confidentiality standards.
