Patient Care Technician - Progressive Care Unit, Midshift

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Patient Care Technician for its Progressive Care Unit in Overland Park, Kansas. The shift runs from 11:00 am to 11:30 pm (midshift). The technician delivers patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient care tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse
• Take accurate vital signs and document them in the electronic medical record
• Document and report procedures accurately and in line with department policy
• Carry out duties and patient care according to policy and procedure, and act appropriately in clinical emergencies
• Participate in practice changes from performance improvement activities and support quality standards
• Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE correctly, perform hand hygiene and enforce safety regulations
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the healthcare team, and maintain a clean, safe environment
• May perform point-of-care testing based on competency and hospital policy

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent (required)
• 1+ years of applicable PCT experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), CPCT/A or EMT certification preferred
