Patient Care Technician – Night Shift

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed clinical team members. This night‑shift position supports a high‑performing, patient‑centered environment at Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Key responsibilities

• Perform validated patient care activities, including personal hygiene, vital signs, and assistance with clinical exams using telehealth technology.
• Communicate effectively with the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners.
• Maintain a safe patient care environment and ensure supplies and equipment are readily available.
• Conduct patient rounds, respond promptly to call lights, and may serve as a virtual safety associate.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with knowledge of medical terminology and patient care needs.
• Ability to complete delegated tasks within the scope of the role and understand risks in a healthcare setting.
• Strong communication skills and respect for diverse patient backgrounds.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficiency with telehealth platforms such as Epic and Vidyo.
• Experience using electronic stethoscopes and other peripheral devices for virtual examinations.
• Physical ability to lift and transport patients up to 50 lb and stand/walk for extended periods.
