Patient Care Specialist

About the role

The Patient Care Specialist ensures high‑quality patient care while serving as a clinical expert, educator, and resource for staff. This position works within Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Cardiac Cath Lab, supporting evidence‑based practice and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with unit leadership and education departments to meet staff educational needs, including orientation, residency, competency assessments, and continuing education.
• Provide clinical, consultative, and informational services to staff, patients, and families, identifying and resolving patient‑care issues.
• Participate in performance‑improvement processes, patient‑satisfaction initiatives, and the development of evidence‑based policies, protocols, and standards.
• Mentor nurses on evidence‑based practice projects and promote compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, TJC, DOH, ADA, and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with at least 3 years of recent clinical experience.
• Demonstrated leadership, teaching abilities, and competence in current nursing practice.
• Ability to identify clinical problems, evaluate options, and implement quality‑care interventions.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
