Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Progressive Care Stepdown Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works in the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at South Pointe Hospital, providing basic patient care under RN supervision. The role supports cardiac and renal patients, including those receiving peritoneal dialysis, and contributes to a safe, healing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care tasks such as vital signs, weight, personal care, ADL assistance, patient transfers, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, applying monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to the RN promptly.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and work areas.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross obtained within the new‑hire period.
• Demonstrated competency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at a junior‑high level.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) credential (preferred).
