Patient Care Nurse Assistant - Gastroenterology

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant works on the G100 Gastroenterology and Hepatology unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, providing direct patient care under RN supervision during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Measure vital signs, weight, and perform pulse oximetry.
• Assist patients with personal care, activities of daily living, and patient transfers.
• Conduct point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, and apply external monitoring devices.
• Remove urinary Foley catheters and report any abnormal findings to the RN.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) within the new‑hire period.
• Ability to perform full‑body motion, lift patients, and stand for extended periods.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician is a plus.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification (preferred).
• Proficiency in vital sign measurement, pulse oximetry, and point‑of‑care testing.
• Experience with dressing changes and applying/removing monitoring devices.
