Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Additional Care Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works the night shift in the 3E Additional Care Unit at Indian River Hospital, providing telemetry and cardiac care support. You will collaborate with nurses and physicians to create a safe, healing environment for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with patient comfort, transport, and daily activities such as dressing, bathing, and feeding.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, collect and transport specimens, and document care in the medical record.
• Provide accurate intake/output data, vital signs, and blood glucose results to RNs/LPNs.
• Restock and order supplies, respond to call lights within five minutes, and assist with equipment removal for room cleaning.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) at hire.
• Graduates of an approved Nursing Assistant program or CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform physical tasks such as repositioning patients.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• EKG and phlebotomy proficiency.
• Intake/output measurement and vital sign monitoring.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (preferred).
