Patient Care Assistant – Night Shift

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant works collaboratively to maintain patient safety and deliver basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse during night shifts. This role involves constant observation, communication with patients, families, and staff, and strict adherence to policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Support the plan of care as delegated by the staff nurse within the scope of verification.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Complete documentation of patient‑related tasks accurately and promptly.
• Adapt behavior to respect patient privacy and preferences.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: at least 3 months of personal care experience in a home, nursing home, skilled nursing, or hospital setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of information.
