About the role

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works under the supervision of a licensed nurse to deliver direct, bedside care to patients in the Medical Telemetry unit. This full‑time, A‑shift position supports safe patient handling, vital sign monitoring, and basic daily activities.

Key responsibilities

Measure and record vital signs, perform glucometer checks, and report changes to the supervising nurse.
Assist patients with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility while following infection‑prevention policies.
Document all care activities accurately to aid clinical decision‑making.
Communicate pertinent patient information promptly to the care team to improve outcomes.

Required profile

High school diploma or GED (preferred).
At least one year of related experience (preferred).
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in Missouri (preferred).
Ability to attend the Phelps Health PCA Academy if not already certified.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days (training provided).
