Patient Care Assistant – Medical Telemetry (Irregular Part‑Time)

About the role

Phelps Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct, basic patient care on a medical telemetry unit. The position is irregular part‑time with varying shifts, working under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and record vital signs, glucometer readings, and other basic health metrics.
• Assist patients with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility while following infection‑prevention and safe‑handling policies.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the supervising nurse promptly.
• Document all care activities accurately to support clinical decision‑making.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• At least one year of related experience (preferred).
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in Missouri (preferred).
• Ability to attend the Phelps Health PCA Academy if not already certified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within the first 90 days (training provided).

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in performing vital‑sign checks, glucometer testing, and routine patient hygiene tasks.
