Patient Access Specialist - Per Diem Days

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Patient Access Specialist on a per diem days basis. The specialist delivers a strong customer experience, handles patient registration and insurance verification, and acts as a liaison between patients and the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain demographic, insurance and medical information to ensure accurate and complete registration.
• Perform insurance verification, data collection and documentation.
• Determine medical necessity of services based on established medical criteria.
• Identify patient financial responsibilities and collect applicable monies.
• Act as liaison to internal and external customers to facilitate access to hospital services.
• Secure all documentation needed to register the patient's visit and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for healthcare providers.
• Preferred: billing and coding certification.
• Experience with EMR systems, insurance verification, eligibility and electronic billing.
• Knowledge of health insurance plans and benefits, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Customer support experience, medical terminology knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Able to sit for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs and pull up to 20 lbs.

Threshold requirements include annual Joint Commission education, TB/PPD surveillance program participation, and maintenance of required professional licenses or certifications.
