About the role

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Specialist to coordinate front‑end revenue‑cycle and clinic functions, ensuring a smooth patient experience from pre‑arrival through post‑discharge.

Key responsibilities

  • Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial and clinical information for patient accounts.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations, pre‑certifications and referrals.
  • Notify patients of financial liabilities prior to service and collect payments.
  • Maintain accurate records in the system of record and serve as a lead resource for lower‑level staff.
  • Provide financial counseling at check‑in, create estimates and explain benefits.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of relevant patient access or revenue‑cycle experience.
  • Strong data‑entry accuracy, attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with ADT module.
  • Proficiency with ASAP module.
