Patient Access Representative – Greater New Orleans Region

About the role

The Patient Access Representative greets patients and guests, both in person and by phone, and manages the scheduling, registration, and admission process. The role ensures accurate patient data for billing and maintains confidentiality while providing courteous service.

Key responsibilities

• Create, activate, and complete patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission, ensuring all required forms are gathered and accurate.
• Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information, explain insurance benefits, and collect co‑pays, deductibles, and self‑pay amounts.
• Perform point‑of‑service collections, balance cash drawer, and prepare deposit slips at the end of each shift.
• Verify insurance eligibility via electronic systems, telephone, or web applications.
• Provide excellent customer service, resolve patient inquiries, and support multiple functions across patient and payer types.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, revenue‑cycle, or customer‑service environment.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and handle high‑stress situations professionally.

Required skills

• Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, payer guidelines, and billing regulations.
