Patient Access Representative – Full‑time Onsite

About the role

The Patient Access Representative 1 (On‑Site) registers patients for clinical services by obtaining pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments. This full‑time position supports the University of Miami Health System’s front‑line patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full patient registration, verify insurance, and ensure all information is accurate.
• Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s license, and any required referrals.
• Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA to patients and obtain signed forms.
• Guide patients to complete physician‑required questionnaires.
• Schedule, cancel, edit appointments and accurately record no‑show patients.
• Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
• Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and transfer calls when appropriate.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and follow unit‑level procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical or office setting.
• General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
• Strong data‑entry skills with minimal errors.
• Effective oral and written communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to process confidential information with discretion.
