Patient Access Manager (On‑Site)

About the role

The Manager, Patient Access leads the business operations of the Patient Access Department at the University of Miami Health System. This role ensures a smooth entry of patients into departmental services, maintains accurate business information, and guarantees payment for services rendered.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, train, and discipline staff while preparing performance reports.
• Oversee day‑to‑day registration activities, ensuring timely patient entry, accurate data entry of biographical and financial information, and proper payment collection.
• Verify insurance eligibility and ensure correct documentation is placed on patient charts before clinic dates.
• Maintain 24‑hour staffing levels and manage the department’s annual budget.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and internal controls in compliance with university regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in patient access, registration, or health‑care operations.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles, with the ability to direct, manage, and evaluate department operations.
• Proven ability to set departmental goals that align with strategic plans and to lead, motivate, and develop staff.
