Pastry Cook III

About the role

Loews Philadelphia Hotel, located in the historic PSFS building in Center City, is hiring a Pastry Cook III. This is an entry-level role that assists in the preparation, baking and presentation of pastries, desserts, breads and other baked goods, supporting the pastry team in delivering high-quality, consistent products that meet the hotel's standards and guest expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and baking pastries, breads, cookies and desserts
• Support daily mise en place for restaurants, banquets and in-room dining
• Follow recipes, portioning and presentation standards
• Maintain a clean and organized pastry workstation
• Practice proper food handling, storage and sanitation (HACCP compliant)
• Label and rotate food items to ensure freshness and reduce waste
• Use kitchen tools and equipment safely and correctly
• Assist with seasonal, holiday and special event pastry preparation
• Work closely with senior pastry staff to learn techniques and improve skills
• Communicate effectively with the team and attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings
• Be available for varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• 0-1 year of professional pastry or baking experience (internships accepted)
• Basic understanding of pastry techniques and terminology
• Strong desire to grow and develop professionally
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Team player with an excellent attitude and work ethic
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Required skills

• Excellent knowledge of baking and pastries
• Chocolate work, such as tempering
• Sugar work, including temperatures and sugar pulling
• Wedding cake assembly and decoration
• HACCP-compliant food safety practices
