Pastry Cook I (Full Time)

About the role

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, a luxury property in Tucson's Catalina Foothills, is hiring a Pastry Cook I for its full-time pastry kitchen. The cook leads daily pastry production, mentors junior team members and contributes to dessert menus across the hotel's outlets, working closely with the Pastry Chef and leadership team on à la carte service, banquets and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Lead production of advanced desserts, breads, cakes and pastries for all F&B outlets
• Execute refined plating and presentation for à la carte and banquet desserts
• Maintain quality, consistency and timeliness during service and prep
• Guide and support Pastry Cooks I and II with coaching and technical assistance
• Collaborate on seasonal dessert development and help test new recipes
• Enforce food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards, and manage storage, rotation, labeling and inventory of pastry items
• Set up and break down the pastry station each shift, and assist with ordering and tracking ingredients
• Coordinate with the culinary, banquet and service teams, step in for the Pastry Sous Chef or Pastry Chef when needed, and attend mandatory training and meetings

Required profile

• 2-4 years of professional pastry experience, including at least 1 year in a hotel, resort or upscale dining environment
• Proven ability to lead a station or pastry team during service
• Experience mentoring or training junior staff is a plus
• Preferred: certificate or diploma in Culinary or Pastry Arts

Required skills

• Advanced pastry techniques: entremets, laminated doughs, sugar work, chocolate tempering and plated desserts
• In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
• Strong time management, communication and multitasking skills
