Part‑time Welding Instructor

About the role

Savannah Technical College, part of the State of Georgia, is seeking a part‑time Welding Instructor to deliver high‑quality welding education across multiple campuses. The role combines classroom teaching, hands‑on lab supervision, and student mentorship to prepare learners for careers in welding and related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, lesson plans, and practical lab sessions in welding.
• Manage classroom dynamics and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback toward certification goals.
• Maintain program accreditation documentation and safety standards.
• Support student recruitment, retention, and placement initiatives.
• Adapt schedule to include day and evening classes across Savannah, Liberty, and Effingham campuses.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Head or Program Dean.

Required profile

• Diploma in Welding from an accredited institution (preferred).
• At least three years of recent welding experience (within the past seven years).
• Strong written and oral communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Current American Welding Society (AWS) certification (strongly preferred).
• Prior teaching experience at a post‑secondary level is highly desired.
• Underwater welding experience or certification is a plus.
