Part‑Time Instructor – Africana Studies

About the role

The university seeks an adjunct instructor to teach an online 3‑credit course, AFST 3030 – Black Musical Traditions, as part of the Bachelor of General Studies in Africana Studies program.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a syllabus and order required textbooks before the start of class.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, PDFs, and student assignments via Moodle.
• Be available for student conferences and provide timely feedback on assignments and exams.
• Submit attendance reports, midterm and final grades, and a student evaluation of the course.

Required profile

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Music, Africana Studies, or a related field.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Submit a letter of application, CV, unofficial transcripts, and three letters of recommendation; official transcripts, a Disclosure Statement, and a professional writing sample required before employment.

Required skills

• Ability to instruct online using Moodle (training may be required).
• Availability for student conferences and grading responsibilities.
