Part‑Time Driver for Infectious Diseases Division

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a part‑time driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for department staff and outreach activities on the UHealth Medical Campus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform visual and physical inspections of the assigned vehicle before, during, and after each trip.
• Refuel, clean the interior, and report any maintenance issues promptly.
• Transport IDEA Team members and medical supplies to designated outreach locations, following established routes and traffic regulations.
• Coordinate arrival and departure times with outreach staff to ensure timely service.
• Report any criminal, suspicious activity, or hazardous road conditions to appropriate personnel.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant driving experience.
• Valid State of Florida driver’s license.
• Understanding of HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and safety protocols for transporting individuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including those with limited health literacy.

Required skills

• Basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
• Knowledge of cultural sensitivity and trauma‑informed care practices.
