Part-Time/PRN Family Nurse Practitioner - MFCC

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital is hiring a part-time, PRN Family Nurse Practitioner for its Mountain Family Care Center (MFCC) in Jefferson, North Carolina. The position offers 18-20 hours per week with varying shifts, no supervisory responsibilities and no travel, with pay commensurate with experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests and prescribe medication for children and adults.
• Perform head-to-toe preoperative assessments and reassess patients as needed, covering pediatric, geriatric and general populations.
• Formulate and evaluate an individualized plan of care and explain procedures to patients.
• Maintain current basic medical knowledge and keep records accurate, complete and timely.
• Keep the Rural Health Clinic Medical Director informed of unusual occurrences and treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Rural health experience preferred.
• Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (initial certification) and meeting NC Board of Medical Examiners regulations, or a Nurse Practitioner meeting North Carolina Board of Nursing regulations.
• Current BLS certification.
• Willingness to receive all required vaccinations, including the flu shot, as a condition of employment.
