Part-Time Security Officer

About the role

Loews Chicago O'Hare, situated between downtown Chicago and O'Hare International Airport, is hiring a part-time Security Officer. The officer acts as the cornerstone of safety and peace of mind for guests, team members and the property, patrolling the hotel, responding to challenges and keeping the guest experience seamless.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to team member entrances
• Carry out regular patrols to identify and address safety hazards
• Respond to emergencies in line with Emergency Response Procedures
• Maintain visitor access and package removal logs, and inspect packages entering and leaving the premises
• Document security incidents and actions taken
• Enforce hotel policies and regulations
• Interact professionally with guests and address their concerns
• Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity
• Communicate with management on safety-related maintenance issues
• Manage lost and found items and support health and safety training

Required profile

• Previous hotel security or related experience (1-3 years preferred)
• Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in criminal justice, security management or a related field preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, and to attend mandatory training and meetings
• Potential for limited local travel for training or meetings

Required skills

• Ability to operate departmental vehicles, including electric transport vehicles
• Basic first aid certification or ability to administer first aid preferred
• Knowledge of security systems, safety regulations and emergency response protocols preferred
• Experience with CCTV and security technology preferred
• Report writing and documentation skills preferred
• Background in law enforcement or military service is a plus
