Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is recruiting a part-time, PRN Patient Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. The role supports patients checking into the hospital by helping them register and answering questions during registration. It is fast-paced, and you will be the person patients rely on to address their fears, concerns and questions with accuracy and compassion. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to collect patient and insurance information in a busy environment.
• Use multiple screens to gather details that must be entered correctly between physician and nurse check-ins.
• Type quickly and work across several programs while clinicians interrupt for emergent clinical care.
• Listen carefully to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time.
• Assist patients on their feet to complete registration, knowing that health plans and coverage vary widely.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Ability to multitask, be a quick study with technology, and type and answer phones.
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital setting; training covers everything else.
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire.

The base pay range is $14.50 - $18.99 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The company states it offers a competitive benefits package.
