Part-Time Patient Customer Service Rep

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is recruiting a part-time, PRN (as needed) Patient Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. The role helps patients check into the hospital and answers questions during registration, working in a fast-paced environment where you must collect information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient information in a busy environment
• Collect patient and insurance details across multiple screens, entering them correctly between physician and nurse check-ins
• Work across multiple programs and type quickly enough to keep up with patients
• Stay calm when clinicians interrupt the process for emergent clinical care
• Listen carefully to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport
• Stand and assist patients with their registration, knowing that health plans vary and requires knowledge gained through training

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Excellent customer service experience
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital setting
• Preferred: medical experience

The base pay range is $14.50 - $18.99 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The company states it offers a competitive benefits package.
