Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is recruiting a part-time Patient Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. John Jan Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. The role supports patients checking into the hospital by helping them register and answering questions during registration. Shifts are part-time and PRN (as needed), lasting 8 to 12 hours. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to collect patient and insurance information in a busy environment.
• Enter data accurately across multiple screens, between physician and nurse check-ins, while working around clinicians interrupted by emergent clinical care.
• Listen empathetically to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time.
• Assist patients on their feet to complete registration quickly, despite variations in health plans and coverage.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire.
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital setting.

Required skills

• Typing and answering phones.
• Quick study of technology and ability to work across multiple computer programs.

The base pay range is $14.50 - $18.99 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The company states it offers a competitive benefits package.
