About the role
The University of Miami Frost School of Music is seeking a Part‑Time Lecturer for its Studio Music and Jazz department. This position offers the opportunity to teach and direct jazz ensembles while contributing to a vibrant academic community.
Key responsibilities
- Teach jazz technique, theory, style, and improvisation to undergraduate students.
- Direct small jazz combos and large jazz ensembles.
- Develop and deliver curriculum for jazz piano, harmony, and composition courses.
- Mentor students and provide performance feedback.
- Participate in departmental meetings and faculty activities.
Required profile
- Substantive national or international experience in the music industry with demonstrated jazz performance expertise.
- Significant teaching experience in jazz and ensemble directing at a university or conservatory level.
- Doctoral degree in music preferred; exceptional professional credentials also considered.
- Experience teaching non‑traditional music students.
Required skills
- Proficiency with music notation software such as Finale or Sibelius.
- Experience using Digital Audio Workstations (ProTools, Ableton Live, Logic, Cubase).
