About the role
The University of Miami’s Department of Music Engineering seeks a part‑time lecturer to teach the graduate course MUE 621 – Critical Listening for Audio Engineers. This fully online class equips professional audio engineers with advanced listening techniques and structured assessment methods.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver asynchronous lecture materials and multimedia content.
- Facilitate online discussion forums and respond to student inquiries.
- Assess and provide detailed feedback on listening exercises and technical assignments.
- Maintain course grading standards and uphold academic integrity.
Required profile
- Graduate degree in Audio Engineering, Music Engineering, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Significant professional experience in audio production, mixing, mastering, or post‑production.
- Prior experience teaching at the college level or delivering online courses is preferred.
Required skills
- Critical listening and ability to identify frequency regions and processing artifacts.
- Evaluation of spectral balance, dynamics, and application of “golden ears” assessments.
