About the role
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Miami is creating a pool of qualified part‑time lecturers to teach language courses during the academic year. Appointees may teach up to two courses per semester and will hold regular office hours to support student learning.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate language instruction in one or more of the following: Arabic, French, German, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, or Spanish.
- Teach a maximum of two courses per semester, adhering to the university’s curriculum and assessment standards.
- Maintain a minimum of three hours per week of office hours for student consultations.
- Collaborate with department faculty on course planning and curriculum development.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in the target language or a closely related field.
- At least one year of college‑level teaching experience.
- Preference given to candidates holding a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.
- Current University of Miami staff may apply through the internal Workday system.
