Part-Time Lecturer – Classics Department

About the role

The Department of Classics at the University of Miami is seeking qualified individuals for part‑time teaching and teaching‑assistant assignments. Appointees may teach up to two undergraduate courses per semester in Latin, Greek, or English translation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, lead discussions, and assess student work for assigned courses.
• Assist senior faculty with course preparation, grading, and classroom management.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and related academic activities.

Required profile

• Minimum of 18 graduate‑level credits in Classics or a related field.
• Preferably at least one year of college‑level teaching or teaching‑assistant experience.
• Strong command of Latin and/or Greek and ability to guide English translation work.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Latin language instruction.
• Proficiency in Greek language instruction.
• Ability to support English translation of classical texts.
