Parks Field Monitor – Athletic Facilities

About the role

The Parks Field Monitor provides intermediate paraprofessional support for the scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of athletic and multipurpose fields within city parks. Working under the Parks Superintendent, the role ensures facilities are secure, well‑maintained, and ready for community sports programs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electronic master schedules for field usage on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis.
• Monitor field conditions, lighting, scoreboards, and equipment; report maintenance needs to appropriate staff.
• Ensure youth leagues meet certification and background‑check requirements.
• Serve as liaison between city parks and youth sports organizations (e.g., Oviedo Babe Ruth, Oviedo Little League, Central Florida Soccer Alliance).
• Open and close facilities, secure equipment, and manage lighting for evening events.
• Inspect fields for fitness of use, inclement‑weather decisions, and off‑season maintenance recommendations.
• Assist with tournaments, special events, and field preparation.

Required profile

• Intermediate paraprofessional experience in park or recreation operations.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends on a 40‑hour schedule.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with staff, league officials, and the public.
• Attention to detail for inspections, scheduling, and safety compliance.
