Paramedic – Emergency Department (PRN)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks a PRN Paramedic to join the Emergency Department at Mentor Hospital. This position provides immediate medical care to patients with critical injuries or illnesses during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, EKGs, CPR, and phlebotomy.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, saline locks, and administer fluids or drugs.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances, simple splints, and assist with chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, and restraint devices.
• Transport patients and specimens, maintain equipment, and support sterile procedures.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program and current Ohio EMTP licensure.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform manual dexterity tasks.

Required skills

• Emergency medical assessment and treatment.
• EKG acquisition and interpretation.
• CPR and advanced cardiac life support.
• Phlebotomy and medication administration.
• Use of restraint and seclusion devices.
