Paramedic – Emergency Department Night Shift

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System at Avon Hospital is seeking a night‑shift Paramedic to provide immediate medical treatment in the Emergency Department. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, delivering critical care to patients with injuries, illnesses, and emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs, perform EKGs, CPR, and phlebotomy.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, saline locks, and notify RN/physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopedic appliances, simple splints, size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, and patient restraint.
• Transport patients and specimens, maintain supplies, and perform fluid/drug administration.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program.
• Current Ohio EMTP licensure and BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.
• One year of EMT‑P experience preferred.

Required skills

• Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification (preferred).
• Proficiency with EKG, CPR, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, and oxygen therapy.
• Ability to apply orthopedic splints, set up chest tubes, perform gastric lavage and lumbar puncture.
