Paralegal – Annual Disclosure & Legal Advice Unit

About the role

The New York City Conflicts of Interest Board is seeking a Paralegal to support its Annual Disclosure and Legal Advice Units, as well as the Enforcement Unit and Special Counsel when needed. This role helps protect the integrity of city government by reviewing financial disclosures and assisting with conflict‑of‑interest investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Review financial disclosure reports from public servants, conduct legal research, and draft formal recusal letters.
• Communicate with public servants to explain legal requirements, gather information, and provide technical support.
• Maintain and update administrative databases and case files.
• Assist with enforcement cases by gathering evidence, preparing charging documents, reviewing responses, and drafting Board orders.

Required profile

• High level of maturity, discretion, and judgment for handling confidential matters.
• Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize competing tasks and provide support across multiple units.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Effective internet‑based research capabilities.
