Paint Specialist

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is hiring a Paint Specialist for its store in Weslaco, Texas. The role builds and maintains relationships with PBE (Professional Body Equipment) customers, provides color matching and paint mixing services, and supports the store manager in reaching PBE sales goals. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with retail and professional PBE customers and offer color-matching expertise and paint product advice.
• Identify OEM paint codes, enter formulas on the formula retrieval computer and mix and tint paint according to manufacturer specifications.
• Use color matching tools such as ColorNet, Paint Manager, variant decks and spectrophotometers.
• Maintain the mixing room, scales, mixing machines and paint counter in a clean, safe environment.
• Manage PBE inventory, including stock receiving, monthly cycle counts and adding or removing products with the Store Manager.
• Follow a weekly call schedule and call summary, reviewed by the Store Manager and submitted monthly to the District Manager.
• Coordinate delivery specialists with the Installer Service Specialist and promote customer service programs such as Hi-5 and the Low Price Guarantee.
• Gather information for labor claims and PBE warranties, train other team members in PBE sales and technical questions, and keep contract customers informed.
• Stay up to date on PBE industry news, products and EPA and OSHA compliance.
• Promote sales tools such as Shop Specials, Tool Box and Hot Sheet, and ensure professional customers have the correct pricing loaded.
• Greet walk-in customers, handle cash, checks and credit cards, accept returns, and handle complaints per policy.
• Help with daily image maker, planogram updates, stock adjustments and paperwork, and complete the required FastTrack training modules.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
• Outstanding, friendly and professional customer service, multitasking between phone and in-store customers.
• Desired: automotive paint and body knowledge or experience, technical schooling, fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
