Packing and Crating Specialist (Air Cargo)

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Packing and Crating Specialist to perform traffic management cargo handling duties. The role covers loading and offloading 463L pallets, containers and trucks, operating general and special purpose vehicles, materials handling equipment and cranes, and ensuring compliance with USAF requirements, the Performance Work Statement and the Amentum ISO 9001 quality system.

Key responsibilities

• Pack, crate, weigh, mark, label and document cargo offered for shipment, including hazardous materials inspection and certification
• Prepare shipping documents and assign Transportation Control Numbers (TCN), keeping a TCN log
• Load and offload 463L pallets, containers and trucks, and inventory incoming freight for damage before acceptance
• Inventory, document and load outbound freight into containers or onto trucks, possibly using automated computer systems
• Operate MHE, wide-body loaders and cranes, and safely transport explosives to flight-line marshaling areas
• Maintain publications, forms and files for traffic management and air terminal operations

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; previous logistics/shipping experience preferred but not required
• Organizational skills and ability to speak, read and write English at a beginner level
• Valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain a host nation license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust U.S. Government clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Physical ability to lift and handle at least 50 lbs and to travel domestically and internationally

Required skills

• Familiarity with supply, TMO and air cargo documentation preferred
• Ability to operate material handling equipment
