Packaging Operator - Nights

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Packaging Operator for its Troy facility, working nights. The role covers safe and efficient operation of production packaging equipment, including automated case forming, packaging and palletizing, and related tasks such as pallet labeling, case coding and production records.

Key responsibilities

• Operate production packaging equipment safely and efficiently, including automated case forming, packaging and palletizing, and set up, operate and replenish fiber gluer and/or taping equipment
• Follow standard operating procedures without deviation and perform routine equipment adjustments
• Generate pallet identification labels according to the production schedule, verify case quantity, product, product ID and production dates, and set up and validate case coding equipment
• Verify and record accurate product case quantities and identify out-of-specification product, following the notification protocol
• Complete production records and documents accurately and neatly, and perform equipment change-overs, clean-up and set-up
• Perform product reclaim and rework, environmental controls and good housekeeping
• Support internal and external audits, comply with food safety regulations and follow occupational health and safety procedures
• Cross-train with other departments and perform other duties as required by management

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• At least two years of work experience in food manufacturing; dairy food manufacturing experience preferred
• Successful completion of drug screen and background check
• Good attendance is a must

Required skills

• Lift truck certification or ability to obtain it (Powered Industrial Truck)
• Understanding of food manufacturing acronyms such as SQF, QA/QC, HACCP, GMP and 5S
• Ability to operate equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations
• Strong math and technical skills, and strong verbal and written communication
