Overnight Security Officer

About the role

Loews Kansas City Hotel, an 800-room hotel connected to the Kansas City Convention Center, is looking for an overnight Security Officer. The officer patrols the property, responds to challenges and ensures guests, team members and the hotel stay safe and secure.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to team member entrances
• Carry out regular patrols to spot and fix safety hazards
• Respond to emergencies following Emergency Response Procedures
• Maintain visitor access and package removal logs, and inspect incoming and outgoing packages
• Document security incidents and enforce hotel policies
• Interact professionally with guests and monitor CCTV, reporting suspicious activity
• Communicate with management on safety maintenance issues and manage lost and found items
• Support health and safety training and attend mandatory training and meetings

Required profile

• Previous hotel security or related experience (1-3 years preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in criminal justice, security management or a related field preferred
• Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• Ability to drive departmental vehicles, including electric transport vehicles
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays and attend off-site training; possible limited local travel

Required skills

• Basic first aid certification or ability to administer first aid preferred
• Knowledge of security systems, safety regulations and emergency response protocols preferred
• Experience with CCTV and security technology preferred
• Report writing and documentation skills; law enforcement or military background is a plus
