Overnight Front Office Manager – Hotel Operations

About the role

The Overnight Front Office Manager leads all hotel operations during the night shift, ensuring guest satisfaction, security, and accurate financial reporting. This position acts as the Manager on Duty, handling guest issues, emergency response, and nightly audit functions in a fast‑paced, union‑environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee overnight hotel operations, ensuring safety, security, and exceptional guest experience.
• Complete nightly audit: balance room revenue, taxes, cash deposits, credit card reconciliations, and city ledger accounts.
• Generate and reconcile daily financial, operational, and management reports, resolving discrepancies before the next business day.
• Monitor PMS, POS, and other system interfaces to ensure successful overnight processing.
• Handle guest concerns, service recovery, and escalated issues professionally.
• Conduct property inspections for cleanliness, safety, and brand compliance.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with Engineering, Security, Housekeeping, and other departments.
• Prepare shift reports and handover notes for the morning team.

Required profile

• Hands‑on hospitality leader with strong night‑audit, accounting, and cash‑handling experience.
• Experience working in a unionized hotel environment and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop overnight staff while fostering a team‑oriented environment.
