Outside Sales Representative - Houston

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring an Outside Sales Representative (OSR) in Houston, Texas. The OSR drives incremental sales growth and profitability through account relationships, focusing on complex business expansion and new business development. The role works with the Pro Sales Manager to meet or exceed sales and margin targets, using data, customer insights and customer satisfaction results to shape local strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Cultivate net-new sales relationships: attend local community events to promote the Pro brand, sell all products and services including commercial credit, volume pricing, delivery, will-call pickup and online ordering, and produce new account revenue against individual targets.
• Hold in-person sales appointments with assigned customers and develop strategies to expand the customer base within the territory.
• Prospect for new business using leads from the internal Sales Development team and from existing customers, stores and the community, and win opportunities to quote materials.
• Partner with the Inside Sales Support Representative as a daily point of contact for quoting, ordering and transactions.
• Use Salesforce to plan sales calls, manage customer communications and maintain a healthy pipeline.
• Participate in district and regional meetings and report weekly activities to the Pro Sales Manager.

Required profile

• Able to work in the United States; must be 18 or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years in account or sales management and 2+ years in home improvement or home building.
• Preferred: strong network-building, leadership, negotiation and communication skills, and deep understanding of Pro customer needs.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).
• Salesforce (used for pipeline management).

Travel is typically required 20% to 50% of the time, and the role involves occasional lifting of moderately heavy items and exposure to temperature extremes, noise and fumes.
