Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN)

About the role

The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinically competent care to patients receiving hemodialysis in an outpatient setting. Working as part of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) team, the RN coordinates assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned patient group.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis, documenting findings and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
• Deliver patient and family education on dialysis, transplant options, and treatment modalities.
• Administer prescribed medications and document effectiveness according to approved algorithms.
• Coordinate laboratory collection, processing, and shipping, ensuring timely and accurate results.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments and care plans.
• Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff, modeling professional behavior and clinical standards.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects and maintain Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) requirements.

Required profile

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Eligibility for or attainment of RN CAP 2 designation.
• Ability to work under supervision of a clinical educator or senior RN.
• Commitment to completing CAP requirements for ongoing advancement.
