Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant – Vascular Surgery

About the role

The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant supports patient care in the Vascular Surgery department at South Pointe Hospital. Working Monday through Friday on day shifts, the role involves direct patient interaction, specimen collection, and assistance with examinations and procedures under RN or LPN supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with screenings, treatments, vital sign collection, and documentation in the electronic health record.
• Prepare patients for exams and procedures such as EKG, Holter monitoring, and vision/hearing screenings.
• Collect and process patient specimens, perform point‑of‑care testing, and ensure proper specimen transport.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and clean examination areas; restock dressing carts and monitor expiration dates.
• Provide wound care, apply simple dressings, and assist with casts, braces, and splints.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting program, or relevant military medical training.
• High school diploma or GED (for OCCA role) and at least one year recent healthcare experience.
• Current Ohio LPN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain within new‑hire period).
• Ability to work onsite in an outpatient clinic setting.
